Health update part 2

So now with the history, labs and 2 weeks of the continuous blood sugar monitor results, my specialist in Utah who is a nurse practitioner who also has her PhD in nutrition, and was a diabetes educator before opening her clinic (basically crazy credentials), she is pretty positive I've got an insulinoma.

So she and my dmba nurse case manager have been doing everything they could, speaking to each other, making tons of calls, to get me in as soon as possible with the right specialist.

Thursday morning- about the time I'm falling down the stairs, the above mentioned nurse case manager Jill, emailed me and told me that I can't go on vacation because my health problems are too dangerous to go anywhere without a pancreas workup for that insulinoma. I didn't fully read and understand the email till Friday at like 430. I tried calling the specialist recommended but they weren't open Fri.
So I emailed my nurse case manager and told her I'll rest and take the steroids for my blood sugar. Both providers were working so hard for this thing, but with the low blood sugar I was still so confused that until I started the steroids, I could comprehend what an insulinoma was, or why the rush. Well now that I can read and understand, with higher blood sugar, I woke up yesterday after a night of no sleep but lots of research.

I felt overwhelmed and just didn't know what to do. I did have a feeling that we didn't need to waste the time to get a new Dr. If I kept having more hypos (hypoglycemia incidents) like I was- up to 6 times a day and almost and regularly every time i slept, you can get permanent brain damage and seizures, then comas and death.

So David gave me a blessing for the panic I was feeling, and then I prayed a lot.

Through the miracle of the Lord and the holy ghosts promptings, I remembered that my transplant surgeon who did my kidney auto transplant in 2020 had given me his cell number so he could me help anytime, anywhere. I somehow just KNEW that he could do the workup and surgery.

I decided to immediately follow my prompting and text Dr Z. It took me like an hour of writing the text over and over, trying to give enough info without telling more than he's got time to read, because you guys know I have a problem with just getting to the point!

I checked with David and he agreed on what I said and I hit send. Literally 1 minute later, he responded telling me he would do the work up with me, and to call his office Monday to make an appointment. He said we'll start by doing imaging and go from there.

It was 9pm on a Fri night and he responded. I was so happy I can't even explain. He's a great surgeon, already knows about the blood pressure and high heart rate. He knows I'm not a faker. So if it's insulinoma, he'll do a great job treating it. If it's something else, I fell like he'll get me to the right diagnosis.

So that's the Sonja Mayfield health update. Both the kids are enjoying summer and they and David are all well currently.

So Monday I call the transplant surgeons office for an appointment. Tuesday I have a digital appointment with my amazing NP.  Hopefully we'll have a quick appointment with Dr zendejas sometime this week after the marin appt. We'll possibly have to run to Utah to see him whenever he they can get me in. But this time we can take the kids with us, instead of leaving them here for school!

So all the prayers, positive energy or sending hugs or whatever you like to do- send them this way! The more the better!
