Christmas Card Letter and Family Picture

Merry Christmas from the Mayfield’s and the Bailey Boys!!
This year has been a little crazy and exciting! We had a baby boy January 25, Gratton Robert Mayfield. He was six pounds and 18” long. He is now ten months old, 20 lbs, and pretty tall! I’m not sure how tall he is, but he wears 18 month clothing! My little brother Jonny moved in with us in April and another little brother Bryce moved in with us in October. So last year it was just the two of us, and now we have grown to a family of five!
David chose his major finally, Computer Engineering, which is a blend of electrical engineering and computer science. He gets to tinker with circuit boards and be on the computer all day long, which is a dream come true for him.
Gratton is learning to walk right now, and it is so cute! He can say mama, dada, yeah, and is learning to say no. He knows how to crawl up the stairs, and likes to get into lots of mischief! He is a little bundle of joy though!
I’ve got one more semester left until I finish my Bachelors degree in Biology. I started taking ballet classes again in September, and performed in the Nutcracker again! I love ballet, and David finally got to see me dance.
Bryce joined wrestling, and did a great job! He even got on varsity. He is in eighth grade and is doing well in school. He found a website that teaches guitar lessons, and is a natural! Jonny is in ninth grade, and is doing great in school too. He is also doing really well in scouts. At scout camp this summer, he got the most merit badges out of all the boy scouts! These boys are really really smart. They made a projector out of a magnifying glass, a cell phone and a shoe box. They’re always working on little projects like that. We’re going to teach the boys to snowboard this winter, and hopefully they will learn to like the winters in Idaho!
We have had a great year, and can’t wait to start another one!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
David, Sonja, Gratton, Jonny and Bryce!

My little guy is walking!

So my little guy is walking!! I love it!! Every time I see him take a few steps it makes me so proud! He is getting so big! And so cute!

Grattons Church Adventures Episode #1

Gratton is a very social child! He loves people, and today's sacrament meeting was a testament to that! He walked up to the family sitting in front of us and reached his arms up to the Lady until she picked him up. Then he snuggled himself into her lap and just cuddled with her! He sat with her and her family for about half of the meeting! So much for stranger danger eh? We had no idea who this lady was, but Gratton acted like he did. Maybe he knew her in heaven, I don't know! We are going to be in trouble when this kid grows up. He's gonna have too many friends and too much of a social life.

Candy lover!

So Gratton loves candy. We have a bowl in the window with Twizzlers in it, and I'm sitting on the couch under the window when Gratton crawls up to me like he wants to he held. So I pick him up and what does he do? He crawls up onto my shoulder and grabs the candy bowl down. He is so nuts, hes great at problem solving. He's only eight months old but he figures out how to do anything and everything he wants.. Little trouble maker...

"I would like to play in peace please!"

So Gratton has learned how to close doors this week! I guess he likes being alone because I can't tell him not to do stuff, like stick things in his mouth. He doesn't like being told no. David and I just sat there and watched as he shut himself into the Boys room; that is his favorite place to play because the fish are in there. He is so crazy. I love him!

Gratty loves to eat!

So today Gratton has done some really funny things. He has a cold and hasn't been eating so much, but today he seems to have gotten his appetite back! I tried feeding him bananas, but he wouldn't eat them. I took him out of the saucer and forgot the bananas on the tray... Well I go back to the laundry and when I turn around he is standing at the tray, spooning bananas into his own mouth! I couldn't believe it! He is only 8 months old, but I'm pretty sure he thinks hes like 3.

Then I made dinner- steaks, mashed potatoes and green beans. I mashes up the beans and was feeding him the mashed potatoes when he got very frustrated; he wanted to feed himself. Well I finally decided to just let him have fun, and to clean it up later. It was awesome!! He was spooning the potatoes and beans into his mouth just like me and the boys were. It was crazy. The only thing he was doing wrong was holding the spoon sideways. Not bad for eight months old though.

He got pretty messy, so when he finished I took him to the sink to clean him up, and he sits down in the sink and tries to give himself a little shower. He takes showers with Dad, but HATES baths as much as a cat! It was sooo cute. My little boy is getting so big! Right now he is walking around pushing my pilates ball. Those things are pretty hard to balance on. He is growing up so fast. I saw a brand new baby at church, and I was like ahh I need a new one cause Grat isn't a baby anymore! Not yet, but hopefully sometime in the near future :)

Destination Inn

This is the room that David got us! He is so sweet!!!! I am so excited!! I love hotels, and have always wanted to go to Hawaii. We can't afford it yet, but this is pretty darn close ;)

Two Year Anniversary!

Yesterday was our two year anniversary, and it was awesome! First David made me breakfast. I was going to make him breakfast, but he beat me to it! Gratton wanted my food of course, and ate about half of my eggs haha. Then I went to school and he went to work. After school I had ballet. When I got home he gave me my card and surprise! Inside the card was a printed out picture of a "Hawaii hotel room". We're gonna go to Hawaii! Haha not real Hawaii, but in Idaho Falls there is a hotel called Destination Inn, and we're gonna have a little getaway next week! Wahoo!! He put a lot of thought into this year, and it made me happy! He also had a vase of flowers for me when he came home from work! Also, we went to Wingers for dinner. We were going to go see a movie too-Contagion- but I got sick and had to go home. Blasted stomach.... Anyway

David is so sweet :) I love him so much. We have a cute little family, well not so little- there are five of us because we are taking care of my brothers. We have sooo much fun though! We went to the straw maze twice already this year, and we've already decorated for Halloween and carved our first batch of pumpkins. We've also been watching a whole lot of scary movies for the month of October. Fun stuff :) David has been working a lot though, he is working two jobs. So most of the time I'm just hanging out with my little guy and brothers and sister. But I would much rather have a husband who works two jobs than no jobs. He takes care of us. Anyway, just wanted to tell everyone how awesome yesterday was! Love you guys tons, ttyl!

He said mama!!

So today was a great day! Kirstie made the best breakfast in the world- crepes! Also, an omelet casserole. Gratton ate a ton of banannas, haha he really likes them. He choked on a big piece that he tried to swallow, and then when he spit it up he tried to put it back in his mouth to eat it again. It was really funny.

Then tonight, while David was at work, he said Mama for the first time!! He always says dada, and when I try to get him to say mama he says- dadadadadada. But tonight he was saying Mamamamama! It was awesome. Then he cried and cried because he was really tired and didn't want to sleep. But that's okay because he said Mama!!

Yesterday was a pretty fun day. Woke up with gratton like almost every hour the night before. So I pretty much got no sleep. Then David went to school. I got Grat ready for the day and Kirstie watched him so I could go to campus.

Amazingly, while I was in the advising line (which, turns out I didn't need to be there) I met a girl who was in Davids calculus class. David has been needing a study group for that class, and she said he could join their study group. That was a huge blessing. She was coming to talk to them about getting into PA school so I helped her with that too, since I used to be an advisor.

I made the cutest headband thingy!! It is adorable.

Gratton started having spit bubbles yesterday. It was sooo cute. And he laughed a lot. He is getting so so big! Almost 5 months! 4 more days :)

Finally a diagnosis...

So finally my new Dr has found a cause for all my nausea and pain. I went in on Tuesday for a nuclear imaging test. It started at 7am and finished at 11:30. Basically they fed me an egg sandwich with radioactive isotopes in it. Then they took scans at different time intervals, which tracked the isotopes progress through my stomach and intestines. What they found is that my stomach isn't emptying at a normal rate, it is delayed. I guess it's called gastroparesis. It's chronic and not curable... Just what I wanted to hear... Not.
So my doctor prescribed a drug- Reglan- which is supposed to help stimulate the stomach muscles. Unfortunately it can also cause some issues. This is what the website says-"Treatment with metoclopramide(Reglan) can cause tardive dyskinesia, a serious movement disorder that is often irreversible. The risk of developing tardive dyskinesia increases with duration of treatment and total cumulative dose.
  • tremors, or restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck;
  • mask-like appearance of the face;
  • very stiff (rigid) muscles, high fever, sweating, confusion, fast or uneven heartbeats, tremors, feeling like you might pass out;
  • depressed mood, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself;
  • hallucinations, anxiety, agitation, jittery feeling, trouble staying still;
  • swelling, fluid retention;
  • jaundice (yellowing of your skin or eyes); or
  • seizure (convulsions)."
I'm not sure if the possible side effects of this drug outweigh the benefits.. I'm not sure if I want to take it. I want to make an appointment to talk to the doctor about my options. SInce it's chronic, it is going to be the rest of my life, so I have to think about what will be best in the long run... So I will keep you guys updated about what I decide to do.

I am so busy this semester, yet somehow I still seem to find time to do everything I need to do. I am in school full time and taking the dreaded Organic Chemistry class. Everyone whines about how hard it is, and lots of guys in my class are really struggling. There are only a few girls in the class, and I'm the only one who isn't single. I don't study as much as I should, because I would rather play with my Gratty poo then study all day. But I am still keeping up somehow in not only this class, but getting A's in my other classes. I know the only reason this is possible is the Lord helping me to understand and remember things the first time I read them.
I have also been sick this semester, but the Lord is helping me get through that too. I have wonderful friends and family who help out with Grat when I feel sick. I also have the best husband in the world, so that helps too. He is always looking out for the well being of me and our family. I love him so much. He makes a lot of sacrifices to take care of gratton and I, and I am very greatful for that.
Gratton is the biggest blessing in my life. He is so amazing, I am in awe every time I look at him. Sometimes it is hard when my stomach is killing me and he is crying and won't sleep, but I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world.
I am so lucky to have my family and the Lord in my life so much, and I just wanted to share that!

Swaddleme Suit

So Gratton is crazy and loves to move around and cannot seem to sleep lately without being swaddled in this thing! He is actually asleep right now though, so I should probably get into bed. There is a ton of stuff I still want to get done around the house, and more reading I should do but I guess it will have to wait until tomorrow. Sleep has got to come first when I can get it!

Pokemon? Really?

Yes, my husband is 25 years old and still loves playing Pokemon. He and my little brother Jonny have been playing it every night. My nephew is newly obsessed, which is understandable because he is seven years old. But my husband is 25... haha. I don't care, it is just funny. I'm glad they have so much fun with it.

I am so stressed out! David and I both are going to school full time, we have a 3 month old, a 14 year old and we are trying to help out Natalie too. My house is a wreck and I can't seem to get caught up with cleaning it and doing my schoolwork which is already piling up... I love school but it is a lot harder now...

Full House

So our house population has recently grown. My little Brother Jonny came to live with us and he is sharing a room with Gratton. Grat doesn't sleep in his own room yet though, we keep him in his bassinet, so it isn't a big deal. We are moving into a house May 15th, and we should have more room then too. We are moving in with Davids sister Kirstie and her family. They are going to live upstairs and we are living in the basement. The best part is we are going to be saving a lot of money!

Exciting Happenings of Winter 2011

This winter has been pretty exciting! The weather has been awful though, being in Idaho.... It wouldn't have been so bad if I had been able to actually play in the snow! When I was pregnant I was very worried about hurting my baby, so I didn't go sledding or anything. I just sat in a chair and got cold because my snow pants didn't fit, and watched everyone else have fun! I was so excited to have the baby so I could go snowboarding, sledding, and just have fun! Then came the stinking pancreatitis, which was no fun-o! I definitely wasn't going outside then... And now that I am feeling all better (mostly), there is no more snow! Normally I would rejoice this fact. I LOVE summer! Well it isn't summer yet but anyway... I wanna go play in the snow dang it!!!! We might try to go snowboarding next week though and have Kirstie or Natalie watch the baby. They just don't know it yet haha!

So what did we do this week? Monday we had Natalie over, and took a trip down to Idaho Falls to get her a new phone. Her old one busted even though it was only a few months old. Luckily she bought the black tie for it. Best buys black tie plan is amazing! Never buy something expensive without also getting the black tie! So she got the optimus for free. I bought a new case for my phone, cause I was sick of my old one. I love Davids discount at Best Buy. Accessories are sooo cheap! I never cared about technology before I met David. I never even watched TV! I have changed a lot since then. I can look at computer or TV specs now and know if its a good or bad deal. I still can't get into video games though... Anyways! After Best Buy we went to Petsmart to check stuff out for our fish! We really wanted a pet, but fish are all we are allowed and I finally decided on which ones to get! We got a dragonfish, a sucker fish, 2 goldfish and 2 black striped thingys. I can't remember the names of the the gold fish or black ones... I wanted some oscars cause they're cool, but I really didn't want them to eat all the other fish.

The Dragonfish is pretty much blind, so it has a hard time finding its food. We couldn't figure out how to get it to eat, and the Wal-Mart people didn't really know anything about it. The petsmart people did though! They told us to get frozen blood worms, thaw them with a little water, suck em up into a turkey baster and then squirt them out right in front of his face. Man did that make the little guy happy!! He hadn't eaten in a few days and we were getting worried about him. He eats now though and is swimming around more and just seems happy! Gratton likes to watch the fish swim around. He smiles and sometimes tries to grab the fish through the tank. It is so adorable!

We spent like an hour in petsmart just looking at all the cool tanks and accessories. I want a huge aquarium when we have a house one day. I love animals! I wish we could have a dog, but not very many apartments or houses out here let you have them. And the ones that do let you have them require a huge deposit and sometimes extra monthly fees, which we just can't afford. But I love my fish! David has a male eclectus parrot, but his parents are taking care of it for now. I am going to ask our landlords if we can bring him here, but who knows.

Tuesday was a pretty slow day. My sis Nat and I went to the gym while David watched the baby, and then we came home and switched, and David went for a run. I ran two miles! I did take a few walking breaks though, but I did way better than I expected. That night Natalie watched Gratton while David and I went to a choir show for our FA100 class. It was not a very good show... We ended up playing angry birds on our phones...

Yesterday was pretty fun. We took Gratton to the doctors and he is now 22 inches long and 10 lbs 9.5 ounces! The doctor also prescribed some prevacid for him because he spits up SOOOO much! So far it seems to be working. He hasn't spit up much since he took his first dose. He also got his first round of vaccines, which he did not like! He only screamed for like 30 seconds though and then he took his pacifier and was calm again. Thankfully Kirstie reminded me to give him baby tylenol before we went! He woke up at 4am though screaming, and with a fever. We had given him a dose of tylenol at 10pm, but it wore off while we all slept. I had left the tylenol at Kirsties though and no stores out here are open 24hrs! Luckily David has a key to Kirsties though so he went and got the meds. SO we gave him the tylenol and his fever went away and he went back to sleep. He woke up again at 7, I fed him again and he and David are still sleeping right now. I'm pretty tired too, but I wanted to get some things done while Gratton is sleeping! I love having a baby, but it is a lot of work and you don't get much time for yourself. Some days I take the alone time to sleep, but sometimes I would rather do stuff!

So we are going to California on the 11th! I am so so so so so excited! Warm weather, family, Disneyland! It doesn't get much better than that. I am so excited. Next semester is going to be pretty stressful because both David and I will be in hard classes. Kirstie is taking a full load too, so we won't have much time to play like this semester. I am taking some fun classes too- a guitar class and a pattern making class. I have always wanted to be able to design modest dresses and now I will be able to!

Well, I am going to get going but I will report later with more happenings of our happy little family! :)

In the hospital again!

SO Davids birthday weekend ended up a little different then I had planned! We were going to have a dinner at Kirsties house and I was going to make him 25 mini cakes at his request haha! But I got sick...

I had been having really bad abdominal pain during my pregnancy. It started in the second trimester and pretty much made the rest of my pregnancy miserable. I told my doctor about it at every appointment, but he wouldn't check for anything! I even asked him to check for gallstones, because it said in my pregnancy book that it was really common, and my dad agreed. He wouldn't check though. When I went to the hospital for contractions at 32 weeks, my white blood cell count was really high and they didn't know why, but no one thought to check for gallstones!

So 6 weeks after having Gratton I started having really intense stomach pain, and two days into it I went to my doctor. My sister-in-law even had to drive me because I was in too much pain to drive myself or take care of Gratton. The midwife was the only person at the office though, and so I saw her. She said that I was probably just having constipation pain though, or I was coming down with something. I told her I had already gone poo that morning but she wouldn't listen, and told me to give myself an enema! She sent me to have lab work done at the hospital, cause I wouldn't take enema for an answer, but it wouldn't have been done until the end of the day. She didn't think it was a very big deal.

By the time I got to the Hospital though, I was in so much pain that I was in the fetal position on the floor. Kirstie said I should have the ER look at me, and I'm so glad I did! The doc looked at my stomach and said it looked really yellow. He gave me pain meds right away, and I was finally out of pain for the first time in a long time! In the next hour I had 3 vials of blood taken, an x-ray, an ultrasound and a transfer to the hospital in Idaho Falls. The doctor said I had pancreatitis, my liver was in bad shape, making me jaundice, and it was all being caused by lots of gallstones which had developed during my pregnancy. One had moved into my bile duct, and that was causing the pancreatitis and liver problems.

David came home from work early, and helped check me into the Idaho Falls hospital. They hooked me up to a fentanyl drip and starved me for a day to help my pancreas heal. The next day the stone had passed, so they took out my Gallbladder. I had the surgery on Davids birthday, poor guy. He spent all day and night helping me out of the bed to pee. Everyone came to the hospital though and brought him presents and cupcakes. Kirstie had been watching Gratton and she brought him too.

I was able to leave the hospital the next night, and eat too! I was very excited. I'm feeling much better now, and I can even take care of Gratton again. I'm glad I finally went to another doctor and got everything taken care of. Needless to say, I am not ever going back to my old doctor again. He made me feel like I was imagining things to the point where I just got used to my gallstone pain. I am so much more appreciative of good doctors now though. It makes me want to be a doctor even more, so that other people won't have to go through what I did.

Gratton Robert Mayfield

He's here!!! Gratton was born last Tuesday, 1/26/11 at 3:06am. He weighed 6lbs 4oz and was 20 inches long. However, at his pediatrics appointment he had lost an inch because his head shrunk back to normal. So he is 19 inches now.

I started having contractions Sunday the 24th. They were really strong, but not consistent, so I stayed at home all frustrated, and waited for them to get closer together. We went to Sunday dessert night at Kirsties house, and Kirstie and my lil sis and I joked around about what I could do to get my contractions closer together and get this baby here! Monday morning we went about our normal routine. David went to his first class and I dropped him off at his second class. That was at about 12:45. I got home and as soon as I sat down I noticed that they were getting closer together, so I started timing them. They were a minute apart and really painful. I knew if I waited until Davids class finished, I might be in too much pain to go get him. So after an hour of minute apart contractions, I texted David and went to pick him up. I wanted to go to the doctors office first, in case it was a false alarm. They were all out at lunch though, so the receptionist told me to go to the hospital.

We went to the hospital, and I was dilated to a 2. They hooked me up to monitors and said they were gonna watch my contractions and see if they progressed me at all. The contractions continued for like an hour and a half, and then she made us get up and walk for 30 minutes to see if they would speed up or "fizzle out". After the first walk, they seemed to slow down a little and I started to get kinda disappointed. I didn't wanna go home.... Then she made me walk a second time, and my contractions went nuts. They were one after another and so painful. I had also dilated to a 3. The doc hadn't showed up yet, but when she called him, he said to keep me there and he would come break my water after his shift at the clinic.

When the nurse came back to our room and told us that the doc was going to break my water, and that we were going to have this baby, I was a little shocked! I wanted to have my baby, but I didn't think coming into the hospital that it was going to happen! We didn't bring anything except a camera! I immediately texted everyone who I had promised I would, to tell them we were having a baby. David called his parents, and Natalie (my little sis) called mine. We were so excited. David was literally bouncing around like a little kid who had had way too much sugar!

It was all fun and games until the doc broke my water and the contractions picked up big time. They were so painful, I thought I was gonna die! The doc said I could get my epidural whenever I wanted, and so I thought about it for a few seconds..... Now! I want the epidural now! About 20 minutes later and I'm still dying... I even cried a little. David gave me a blessing. The contractions get harder and closer together.....They are one after another and I tell David, "I can't do it anymore." Then finally the anesthesiologist walks in! He looked like an angel to me with his drugs and sterile kits full of needles.

He starts talking and I half listen, trying to hold back tears and screams. I just want the needles and drugs already. He gets started and tells me not to move, or I can become paralyzed. Perfect thing to say, as one of the biggest contractions yet comes. I hold as still as possible as he tells me this is going to hurt. I thought it would, since they go in between your spine and all, but compared to the contractions all I felt was a tiny pinch. Ten minutes later the drugs kick in and I am all smiles. I can do another 3 days of labor if it's like this!

Kirstie and Bill came a few minutes later. Natalie and Bill left to get food cause no one had eaten. Kirstie insisted they not eat in front of me, but I told them I didn't care. I honestly didn't. Now that I couldn't feel the contractions, I was just super excited again to see my baby boy! The nurse had watermelon flavored ice chips, and that was good enough for me.

We all took bets, and most of us thought it'd be like 6 or 7 in the morning cause I wasn't progressing very fast. However, we were wrong and he was born at 3:08 am! The doctor on call was the one I didn't like, and he was really rude. He even made fun of the name we had picked out. Talk about bedside manners... I don't know all the stuff he was saying because I was pretty distracted, all I know is that the nurses were arguing with him and I heard one of them call him arrogant.

They thought I was going to have to have a C-section because with every contraction his heart rate dropped really low. SO I had to change positions with every push, and then wait for his heart rate to get back to normal before pushing again. He had the heart monitor attached to his head too. He still has the scab actually. But we didn't have to have a C-section because I was such a good pusher and we were able to get him out in an hour. I cried a ton when he was born, David did too. He was just so beautiful and we love him so much!

Midnight craving for jello!

So last night at midnight, I got a craving for green jello. Luckily I had some! SO I got up and made it. When I came back to bed David was like, "where did you go?" "Oh I had to make some jello!" He was like, "ooookay..." And today I got to eat it! Yay!

Wisdom ouchies...

I never got my wisdom teeth out as a teenager. Not sure why, since we did have insurance. I was just too busy dancing to bother probably. But one decided to grow in quite recently, while I was pregnant.. The dentist didn't wanna take it out though because of the baby. Well it started hurting pretty good and the other teeth around it got really sensitive, so I went in yesterday to have it checked out. When the dentist saw it, he was like "yup that's gonna need to come out".

He wasn't worried about the baby though, because I am so far along. Well, now my mouth is just a big ball of ouchies. It hurts and all I can take is tylenol, which does just about nothing! That is why I am up at 3 am....

Baby updates

So I haven't been having any contractions lately and next Friday I get to stop taking the contraction meds! The doc said though that it looks like I might actually go full term, so I haven't been staying in bed lately. I've been doing more stuff and it feels great! I am not good at staying still and not doing stuff.

I was at motherhood maternity today, just kinda dinkin around and wasting time until David got off work, and I found the coolest thing! It's a Graco prenatal heart listener. It is so so cool, I wish I would have found it sooner! You can hear the baby's heartbeat (when you can find it), and just him moving around and stuff. You can record it onto your computer, so I'm gonna figure out how to do that too.

David and I are so excited and ready for this baby to come! We just can't wait. The doctor said last week that he was about 5 1/2 pounds. So if I go full term, which he said I should, we are gonna have a pretty big baby, since I'm not due till Feb 5th! He moves around so so much the last few days, and there is not much room in there. It's actually really painful now when he moves! But it is cool when I can feel his foot. I poke at him and he squirms around, it is pretty fun.

Well I will keep you updated! 3 1/2 weeks more at the most! They said they will induce me at 40 weeks if he isn't here yet, and I'm 36 1/2 right now! 37 weeks on Saturday! Speaking of Saturday, Sat is my baby shower, don't forget to come!

No rest for the weary.. Or the pregnant!

So today is like day 3 in a row of waking up at 5am! Anyone who knows me knows that I can sleep anytime, anywhere, whether or not I had 8 hours already. Well I guess those days are over!
I didn't even try staying asleep this morning. I got up and started doing some studying. I am only taking two classes this semester- Doctrine and Covenants (a religion) and Pathophysiology. Both are online, so I never have to go on campus, woo! Except for tests at the testing center...
In my pathology class, the professor records his lectures, so I listen to them and crochet. I'm trying to be better at multitasking like David is. He can do like 4 things at once! I'm working on a baby sweater right now. It looks like it is going to turn out pretty cute!

May-December 2010

When Davids family came to Rexburg for Memorial day, we did some awesome stuff! We went to bear world and yellowstone. Such a great weekend! I don't have any pics sadly... But now that we finally have a camera, there will be more pics from here on out!

June was a fun month. I had my first ultrasound, and they moved my due date up two weeks. I still think they were wrong, because I specifically remember the first day of my last period. It was the same day I found out I had been kicked out of school, I remember thinking "really, could this day get any worse?!" But they set my due date to Feb 5th instead of January 18th. We had a lot of fun in June, and spent a lot of time at Porter Park, and in the sun. I think it snowed only once in June. I think this was also when Kirstie first told us she was pregnant too. David had already guessed, because he said she was grumpier and sicker, but I hadn't noticed at all!
My little sister decided to come out to Rexburg to go to Paul Mitchell, so we moved out of Jareds room and got a 2 bedroom apartment, so she could stay with us. We needed more space anyway, since we had decided to just stay in Rexburg forever, and I was prego.

July was awesome. We bought a ton of fireworks, and did them on the 4th in Kirsties front yard. We didn't have much competition for room in the street, because we were like the only ones who celebrated it on Sunday. Everyone else did it on Saturday. Kirstie was sick as a dog, but I wasn't TOO bad. I was nauseous a lot, but did not throw up much.

In Aug, we went to Vegas for the Mayfield family reunion, and man was it a blast! We went to The Lion King, The Shark tank, a buffet at the Rio, and mostly enjoyed the air conditioned hotel! I missed my family reunion, because David couldn't get 2 weeks off in a row, and they were back to back. But we will go to mine this year, since his family only does one every other year.
I also turned 22. David and Kirsties family surprised me by showing up with pizzas, dr pepper and brownies instead of a cake (i like brownies a lot, and kirstie was feeling too sick to make a cake)! David got me a cricut scrapbooking machine, which is awesome! Then he took me to the Idaho Museum, out to lunch at Red Robin, and gave me a gift card to best buy! I used it to buy The Fox and The Hound. Great movie!

September was a pretty rough month... We started another semester of school, and I quit my job at payless to work on campus. We found out on the 21st that we were having a baby boy! But then on the same day, Kirstie and Bill lost their baby girl. It was really hard because we didn't talk about our baby without including Kirstie and Bills' and how great it was going to be that they would be so close. It was hard for David and I to separate one from the other. Kirstie and Bill and their kids were really good though about still being excited about our baby Gratton, so that helped. And then I found out that my friend Jessie lost her baby as well. I felt pretty guilty , and kind of threw myself into doing stuff to prepare for the baby, to try to get excited again. I don't know when my feelings changed, but I am happy again about our baby, though I still really wish things went differently for Kirstie and Jessie.
October was a fun month. David loves Halloween, so I had a lot of fun decorating the house! And the Giants won the World Series! We watched all of the games, and had parties and just a good ol time. Here's us all decked out. If you don't understand the beards, its because you aren't a true Giants fan ;)
Fear the beard!
David was a grim reaper thingy, and I was a pumpkin for Halloween. We had a lot of fun!
October 10th was also our one year anniversary. We had a romantic dinner in since it was Sunday, and on Monday David got me some beautiful flowers!
Oh! We also went to the Haunted Mill, I think I already posted about that. Yeah it scared me to death. In turn, I'm fairly certain Gratton was also a little on edge!

Not a very eventful month. Mostly it was filled with stinky school and tests and work, for both David and I. I finally went to a different doctor though who gave me anti-nausea medicine! That changed me being sick so much, it was amazing!
We couldn't go out of town for Thanksgiving, so we had our own here. It was my first time cooking a turkey, but David and I did great! It was way good. We had our friends Cory and Tavo over, and Davids brother Kyle and his wife Alysa and then Kyles friend skylar. So we had a pretty full house! After dinner we went to the movies and watched Red. It was a good movie, and a good end to Thanksgiving!
I got super sick in December, and started having a lot of contractions. I went to the hospital the first time it happened and I've been on the contraction control meds since. They're not helping all that much anymore, now that the contractions are stronger. They are very painful but I think I am getting used to them. Hopefully though I will be able to tell when I am really in labor!
Christmas was fun, it was our second Christmas together. I got David some dress shoes and he got me a stereo for my car! We went to his friend David Scotts house for dinner, which was great. They had the xbox kinect, and it was soo much fun!! We are going to have to save up for one after we finish buying everything for the baby!

January-May 2010

Okay, so this is sooo long overdue! I can't even remember the last time I made a good update! So much happened in 2010 that I didn't write about, so I'm just gonna write about everything!

In January we were living in Orem, UT. David started school at BYU Provo, and I was at UVU. He was working at Trade Home shoes in the mall, and I was working at the hospital in the OR as a tech/orderly.
In February, Davids Grandma Mayfield died. We took a few days off of school and drove up to Northern California for the funeral. It was a great service, and even though I never got to meet her, I could tell by the way everyone talked about her that she was a great woman.
We were there for Valentines day and he surprised me good! He got me a red rose and Martinellis and chocolate donuts for breakfast! Haha he had to sneak out after I went to sleep on the 13th to surprise me, cause we were always
together. Then later that night he gave me a hilarious card with an ITunes gift card. He is so good at knowing exactly what to get me.
March was busy with school and getting everything ready to go to BYU-Idaho for the summer, so I could graduate. We also took a trip to California to surprise my mother-in-law for her birthday. It was a great trip, we went to Disneyland!

April was a horribly stressful month that I don't even wanna write about, but I will do the short version. The week before finals, we went down to Rexburg to make sure everything was in order for school, and for Davids Best Buy interview. We found out that weekend that I had been kicked out of school! I took off the January semester, so David could be at BYU provo and I could finish at UVU, but did not fill out the right paperwork apparently. I had called the school but was given false information. So I was registered for all the summer classes, had turned in the financial aid paperwork, and then the week before school they decide I am no longer a student?! I was so angry and couldn't stop crying during that trip. They told me how to appeal it though, so that's what we decided to do.
So finals week at UVU I was also trying to appeal my expulsion from BYUI. It was a crazy week, but I passed my finals and was also reaccepted into BYUI. I remember that during my Chemistry and Biotech labs, my hands were so shaky that I thought for sure I was going to break something or blow something up!
We got through that though, and moved up to Rexburg and i
nto Kirsties (Davids older sister) sons room. Once we got up there though, we noticed that we still didn't have our financial aid. By the way- this was one week into the summer semester at BYUI. Our semesters between Utah and Idaho overlapped by a week, but all my professors had let me stay in the class and I was trying to keep up. But so before going to our classes, we went to Financial Aid to figure out what was up, because we needed to pay bills. Once we got there we had another turn of events! They told us that because the semesters overlapped between the Utah schools and BYUI, we were not eligible for financial aid. The tears started again. When we came up the previous weekend, we even talked to the Manager of the financial aid office to make sure everything was okay and he assured us it was.
We were able to do more appeals and take out some loans and they gave us some grants, but after losing 7 grand in pell grants (I get the smart grant too) there was no way for us to live and go to school full time. This also meant that I couldn't graduate that semester, I needed 17 credits to do that.
So......... we decided to just chill out and go to school part time for summer! We took an online class and a second block class, and got the heck out of Rexburg for 2 weeks!
We actually ended up having a great summer. David also finally gave me the go ahead in April to start trying for a baby!
We needed a vacation after everything that happened, and Davids dad had some work for him, which turned out to be a HUGE blessing and got us through our summer bills.
While in California, we went to Disneyland a few times
, spent time with his folks, went to see mine, and I went to my first professional baseball game! It was the Padres vs. the Giants (we are giants fans) and Davids parents got us seats right behind the giants dugout! We were so close that I could see the players facial expressions! And we of course got hot dogs and nachos and caramel popcorn and soda and every other food I could think of! What a great night!

And while we were at Disneyland, for the first time in my entire life I got nauseous from the rides. This gave us the suspicion that I was pregnant, but when we took a test it said I wasn't. Sad day! (for now). We were originally only supposed to be in Cali for a week, but the work with Davids dad-Bob- took longer, and Best Buy couldn't train him for another week, so we got to stay longer!

May was a great month! We found out that we were pregnant! Everyone in Davids family came to Rexburg for memorial day weekend, and we told them all. I would rather have waited, but I had already told Kirstie and my Mom and I didn't want anyone to feel bad about not being told before someone else. Also, I was so excited that it would have been too hard to keep it a secret anyway.

Okay well heres the first installment of the year, and I will finish it in a few!
