Christmas Card Letter and Family Picture

Merry Christmas from the Mayfield’s and the Bailey Boys!! This year has been a little crazy and exciting! We had a baby boy January 25, Gratton Robert Mayfield. He was six pounds and 18” long. He is now ten months old, 20 lbs, and pretty tall! I’m not sure how tall he is, but he wears 18 month clothing! My little brother Jonny moved in with us in April and another little brother Bryce moved in with us in October. So last year it was just the two of us, and now we have grown to a family of five! David chose his major finally, Computer Engineering, which is a blend of electrical engineering and computer science. He gets to tinker with circuit boards and be on the computer all day long, which is a dream come true for him. Gratton is learning to walk right now, and it is so cute! He can say mama, dada, yeah, and is learning to say no. He knows how to crawl up the stairs, and likes to get into lots of mischief! He is a little bundle of joy though! I’ve got one more semester left until I fi

My little guy is walking!

So my little guy is walking!! I love it!! Every time I see him take a few steps it makes me so proud! He is getting so big! And so cute!

Grattons Church Adventures Episode #1

Gratton is a very social child! He loves people, and today's sacrament meeting was a testament to that! He walked up to the family sitting in front of us and reached his arms up to the Lady until she picked him up. Then he snuggled himself into her lap and just cuddled with her! He sat with her and her family for about half of the meeting! So much for stranger danger eh? We had no idea who this lady was, but Gratton acted like he did. Maybe he knew her in heaven, I don't know! We are going to be in trouble when this kid grows up. He's gonna have too many friends and too much of a social life.

Candy lover!

So Gratton loves candy. We have a bowl in the window with Twizzlers in it, and I'm sitting on the couch under the window when Gratton crawls up to me like he wants to he held. So I pick him up and what does he do? He crawls up onto my shoulder and grabs the candy bowl down. He is so nuts, hes great at problem solving. He's only eight months old but he figures out how to do anything and everything he wants.. Little trouble maker...

"I would like to play in peace please!"

So Gratton has learned how to close doors this week! I guess he likes being alone because I can't tell him not to do stuff, like stick things in his mouth. He doesn't like being told no. David and I just sat there and watched as he shut himself into the Boys room; that is his favorite place to play because the fish are in there. He is so crazy. I love him!

Gratty loves to eat!

So today Gratton has done some really funny things. He has a cold and hasn't been eating so much, but today he seems to have gotten his appetite back! I tried feeding him bananas, but he wouldn't eat them. I took him out of the saucer and forgot the bananas on the tray... Well I go back to the laundry and when I turn around he is standing at the tray, spooning bananas into his own mouth! I couldn't believe it! He is only 8 months old, but I'm pretty sure he thinks hes like 3. Then I made dinner- steaks, mashed potatoes and green beans. I mashes up the beans and was feeding him the mashed potatoes when he got very frustrated; he wanted to feed himself. Well I finally decided to just let him have fun, and to clean it up later. It was awesome!! He was spooning the potatoes and beans into his mouth just like me and the boys were. It was crazy. The only thing he was doing wrong was holding the spoon sideways. Not bad for eight months old though. He got pretty messy, so when

This is the room that David got us! He is so sweet!!!! I am so excited!! I love hotels, and have always wanted to go to Hawaii. We can't afford it yet, but this is pretty darn close ;)

Two Year Anniversary!

Yesterday was our two year anniversary, and it was awesome! First David made me breakfast. I was going to make him breakfast, but he beat me to it! Gratton wanted my food of course, and ate about half of my eggs haha. Then I went to school and he went to work. After school I had ballet. When I got home he gave me my card and surprise! Inside the card was a printed out picture of a "Hawaii hotel room". We're gonna go to Hawaii! Haha not real Hawaii, but in Idaho Falls there is a hotel called Destination Inn, and we're gonna have a little getaway next week! Wahoo!! He put a lot of thought into this year, and it made me happy! He also had a vase of flowers for me when he came home from work! Also, we went to Wingers for dinner. We were going to go see a movie too-Contagion- but I got sick and had to go home. Blasted stomach.... Anyway David is so sweet :) I love him so much. We have a cute little family, well not so little- there are five of us because we are taking care

He said mama!!

So today was a great day! Kirstie made the best breakfast in the world- crepes! Also, an omelet casserole. Gratton ate a ton of banannas, haha he really likes them. He choked on a big piece that he tried to swallow, and then when he spit it up he tried to put it back in his mouth to eat it again. It was really funny. Then tonight, while David was at work, he said Mama for the first time!! He always says dada, and when I try to get him to say mama he says- dadadadadada. But tonight he was saying Mamamamama! It was awesome. Then he cried and cried because he was really tired and didn't want to sleep. But that's okay because he said Mama!!

5/21/2011

Yesterday was a pretty fun day. Woke up with gratton like almost every hour the night before. So I pretty much got no sleep. Then David went to school. I got Grat ready for the day and Kirstie watched him so I could go to campus. Amazingly, while I was in the advising line (which, turns out I didn't need to be there) I met a girl who was in Davids calculus class. David has been needing a study group for that class, and she said he could join their study group. That was a huge blessing. She was coming to talk to them about getting into PA school so I helped her with that too, since I used to be an advisor. I made the cutest headband thingy!! It is adorable. Gratton started having spit bubbles yesterday. It was sooo cute. And he laughed a lot. He is getting so so big! Almost 5 months! 4 more days :)

Finally a diagnosis...

So finally my new Dr has found a cause for all my nausea and pain. I went in on Tuesday for a nuclear imaging test. It started at 7am and finished at 11:30. Basically they fed me an egg sandwich with radioactive isotopes in it. Then they took scans at different time intervals, which tracked the isotopes progress through my stomach and intestines. What they found is that my stomach isn't emptying at a normal rate, it is delayed. I guess it's called gastroparesis. It's chronic and not curable... Just what I wanted to hear... Not. So my doctor prescribed a drug- Reglan- which is supposed to help stimulate the stomach muscles. Unfortunately it can also cause some issues. This is what the website says-" Treatment with metoclopramide(Reglan) can cause tardive dyskinesia, a serious movement disorder that is often irreversible. The risk of developing tardive dyskinesia increases with duration of treatment and total cumulative dose. tremors, or restless muscle movements in you

Blessings

I am so busy this semester, yet somehow I still seem to find time to do everything I need to do. I am in school full time and taking the dreaded Organic Chemistry class. Everyone whines about how hard it is, and lots of guys in my class are really struggling. There are only a few girls in the class, and I'm the only one who isn't single. I don't study as much as I should, because I would rather play with my Gratty poo then study all day. But I am still keeping up somehow in not only this class, but getting A's in my other classes. I know the only reason this is possible is the Lord helping me to understand and remember things the first time I read them. I have also been sick this semester, but the Lord is helping me get through that too. I have wonderful friends and family who help out with Grat when I feel sick. I also have the best husband in the world, so that helps too. He is always looking out for the well being of me and our family. I love him so much. He makes a

Swaddleme Suit

So Gratton is crazy and loves to move around and cannot seem to sleep lately without being swaddled in this thing! He is actually asleep right now though, so I should probably get into bed. There is a ton of stuff I still want to get done around the house, and more reading I should do but I guess it will have to wait until tomorrow. Sleep has got to come first when I can get it!

Pokemon? Really?

Image
Yes, my husband is 25 years old and still loves playing Pokemon. He and my little brother Jonny have been playing it every night. My nephew is newly obsessed, which is understandable because he is seven years old. But my husband is 25... haha. I don't care, it is just funny. I'm glad they have so much fun with it.

Stress

I am so stressed out! David and I both are going to school full time, we have a 3 month old, a 14 year old and we are trying to help out Natalie too. My house is a wreck and I can't seem to get caught up with cleaning it and doing my schoolwork which is already piling up... I love school but it is a lot harder now...

Full House

So our house population has recently grown. My little Brother Jonny came to live with us and he is sharing a room with Gratton. Grat doesn't sleep in his own room yet though, we keep him in his bassinet, so it isn't a big deal. We are moving into a house May 15th, and we should have more room then too. We are moving in with Davids sister Kirstie and her family. They are going to live upstairs and we are living in the basement. The best part is we are going to be saving a lot of money!

Exciting Happenings of Winter 2011

Image
This winter has been pretty exciting! The weather has been awful though, being in Idaho.... It wouldn't have been so bad if I had been able to actually play in the snow! When I was pregnant I was very worried about hurting my baby, so I didn't go sledding or anything. I just sat in a chair and got cold because my snow pants didn't fit, and watched everyone else have fun! I was so excited to have the baby so I could go snowboarding, sledding, and just have fun! Then came the stinking pancreatitis, which was no fun-o! I definitely wasn't going outside then... And now that I am feeling all better (mostly), there is no more snow! Normally I would rejoice this fact. I LOVE summer! Well it isn't summer yet but anyway... I wanna go play in the snow dang it!!!! We might try to go snowboarding next week though and have Kirstie or Natalie watch the baby. They just don't know it yet haha! So what did we do this week? Monday we had Natalie over, and took a trip down to Idah

In the hospital again!

SO Davids birthday weekend ended up a little different then I had planned! We were going to have a dinner at Kirsties house and I was going to make him 25 mini cakes at his request haha! But I got sick... I had been having really bad abdominal pain during my pregnancy. It started in the second trimester and pretty much made the rest of my pregnancy miserable. I told my doctor about it at every appointment, but he wouldn't check for anything! I even asked him to check for gallstones, because it said in my pregnancy book that it was really common, and my dad agreed. He wouldn't check though. When I went to the hospital for contractions at 32 weeks, my white blood cell count was really high and they didn't know why, but no one thought to check for gallstones! So 6 weeks after having Gratton I started having really intense stomach pain, and two days into it I went to my doctor. My sister-in-law even had to drive me because I was in too much pain to drive myself or take care of

Gratton Robert Mayfield

He's here!!! Gratton was born last Tuesday, 1/26/11 at 3:06am. He weighed 6lbs 4oz and was 20 inches long. However, at his pediatrics appointment he had lost an inch because his head shrunk back to normal. So he is 19 inches now. I started having contractions Sunday the 24th. They were really strong, but not consistent, so I stayed at home all frustrated, and waited for them to get closer together. We went to Sunday dessert night at Kirsties house, and Kirstie and my lil sis and I joked around about what I could do to get my contractions closer together and get this baby here! Monday morning we went about our normal routine. David went to his first class and I dropped him off at his second class. That was at about 12:45. I got home and as soon as I sat down I noticed that they were getting closer together, so I started timing them. They were a minute apart and really painful. I knew if I waited until Davids class finished, I might be in too much pain to go get him. So after an hour

Midnight craving for jello!

So last night at midnight, I got a craving for green jello. Luckily I had some! SO I got up and made it. When I came back to bed David was like, "where did you go?" "Oh I had to make some jello!" He was like, "ooookay..." And today I got to eat it! Yay!

Wisdom ouchies...

I never got my wisdom teeth out as a teenager. Not sure why, since we did have insurance. I was just too busy dancing to bother probably. But one decided to grow in quite recently, while I was pregnant.. The dentist didn't wanna take it out though because of the baby. Well it started hurting pretty good and the other teeth around it got really sensitive, so I went in yesterday to have it checked out. When the dentist saw it, he was like "yup that's gonna need to come out". He wasn't worried about the baby though, because I am so far along. Well, now my mouth is just a big ball of ouchies. It hurts and all I can take is tylenol, which does just about nothing! That is why I am up at 3 am....

Baby updates

So I haven't been having any contractions lately and next Friday I get to stop taking the contraction meds! The doc said though that it looks like I might actually go full term, so I haven't been staying in bed lately. I've been doing more stuff and it feels great! I am not good at staying still and not doing stuff. I was at motherhood maternity today, just kinda dinkin around and wasting time until David got off work, and I found the coolest thing! It's a Graco prenatal heart listener. It is so so cool, I wish I would have found it sooner! You can hear the baby's heartbeat (when you can find it), and just him moving around and stuff. You can record it onto your computer, so I'm gonna figure out how to do that too. David and I are so excited and ready for this baby to come! We just can't wait. The doctor said last week that he was about 5 1/2 pounds. So if I go full term, which he said I should, we are gonna have a pretty big baby, since I'm not due t

No rest for the weary.. Or the pregnant!

So today is like day 3 in a row of waking up at 5am! Anyone who knows me knows that I can sleep anytime, anywhere, whether or not I had 8 hours already. Well I guess those days are over! I didn't even try staying asleep this morning. I got up and started doing some studying. I am only taking two classes this semester- Doctrine and Covenants (a religion) and Pathophysiology. Both are online, so I never have to go on campus, woo! Except for tests at the testing center... In my pathology class, the professor records his lectures, so I listen to them and crochet. I'm trying to be better at multitasking like David is. He can do like 4 things at once! I'm working on a baby sweater right now. It looks like it is going to turn out pretty cute!

May-December 2010

May When Davids family came to Rexburg for Memorial day, we did some awesome stuff! We went to bear world and yellowstone. Such a great weekend! I don't have any pics sadly... But now that we finally have a camera, there will be more pic s from here on out! June June was a fun month. I had my first ultrasound, and they moved my due date up two weeks. I still think they were wrong, because I specifically remember the first day of my last period. It was the same day I found out I had been kicked out of school, I remember thinking "really, could this day get any worse?!" But they set my due date to Feb 5th instead of January 18th. We had a lot of fun in June, and spent a lot of time at Porter Park, and in the sun. I think it snowed only once in June. I think this was also when Kirstie first told us she was pregnant too. David had already guessed, because he s aid she was grumpier and sicker, but I hadn't noticed at all! My little sister decided to come out to Rexburg to

January-May 2010

Okay, so this is sooo long overdue! I can't even remember the last time I made a good update! So much happened in 2010 that I didn't write about, so I'm just gonna write about everything! January In January we were living in Orem, UT. David started school at BYU Provo, and I was at UVU. He was working at Trade Home shoes in the mall, and I was working at the hospital in the OR as a tech/orderly. February In February, Davids Grandma Mayfield died. We took a few days off of school and drove up to Northern California for the funeral. It was a great service , and even though I never got to meet her, I could tell by the way everyone talked about her that she was a great woman. We were there for Valentines day and he surprised me good! He got me a red rose and Martinellis and chocolate donuts for breakfast! Haha he had to sneak out after I went to sleep on the 13th to surprise me, cause we were always together. Then later that night he gave me a hilarious card with an ITunes gift
